The discussion around politicians’ wealth and benefits is critical today. Most politicians are worth over $1 million and receive generous benefits. Taxpayers help fund these benefits, raising questions about the extent of politicians’ wealth and the generosity of their benefits. It is time for transparency regarding politicians’ wealth and benefits.
Why does no one talk about it? All they say is that people will suffer if government agencies are dismantled and social benefits cut. At the same time, they earn a substantial amount of money with all their benefits and insider knowledge. The disparity between the wealth and benefits of politicians and the hardships faced by the average citizen is notable. It often leads to concerns about fairness in the political system.
The Biden Administration added $8.44 trillion over 4 years. A significant portion of the money was allocated to social programs. He also distributed free money during the COVID-19 pandemic to people still working from home. This action increased our debt and increased the price of everything.
Republicans were no better, for they added $ 7.8 trillion under the Trump administration’s first term. Politicians want to cut nothing, especially their benefits, which are costing taxpayers millions.
There is no discussion about reducing fraud. There is no inquiry into where the money goes. Addressing these issues could save billions of dollars a year.
It’s time to cut politicians’ benefits and eliminate government fraud, holding them accountable for where the tax payer money goes.
Welfare Benefits and Fraud
If people can work, there would be no need for them to be on government welfare. They wouldn’t need it, at least on a full-time basis. It would be interesting to see what these people are doing all day. They are probably playing video games, streaming, or surfing the internet. Some might be working for cash under the table. I am not saying we should get rid of welfare. Some people do need it. Some single mothers or fathers with young children need help with childcare and can’t afford to work outside the home. Other people have medical issues and can’t work. It needs to go to people who need help!
There is also widespread fraud within all government programs. If politicians worked together to eliminate fraud, more money would be available to help those who genuinely need assistance.
American citizens should be at the top of the list for assistance. We should not be giving money to people who came to America illegally. I am not opposed to helping foreign countries or immigrants coming to America. I believe legal immigration contributes to making America great.
Next, the Democrats keep saying the “Big Beautiful Bill” is only for the rich. I did some research on Congress’s perks and net worth. This includes both parties, not just Democrats. They are the same when it comes to themselves.
The Congressional generous benefits and wealth.
Let’s talk about some of the benefits both Republicans and Democrats get in Congress. Neither one of them talks about how good they have it. Furthermore, they don’t want the public to know about the perks they receive because it doesn’t support their talking points. Well, here it is:
Health Insurance – Federal subsidies pay about 72% of their premiums. That’s your tax dollars.
Pensions, Social Security, and Retirement plans – First, they receive approximately 80% of their yearly salary, which is roughly $139,200. This amounts to approximately $12,000 per month. Additionally, they can collect Social Security benefits and receive monthly payments from their retirement plan. At the same time, the average pension for Americans is $2,300 per month. This amount is less than 20% of what your representative receives.
Stock Market – Many politicians become wealthy by buying and selling stocks. It’s easy for them because they have the inside scoop on what regulations and laws are being implemented. They use this information to their advantage. It’s called insider trading.
The Ending Trading and Holdings in Congressional Stocks (ETHICS) Act (S. 1171 / H.R. 1171) is gathering no traction, as no one wants to bring it to the floor. Below is a website where you can view what your representative is selling and trading. Note that not all politicians engage in insider trading.

Death – Under FERS, a guaranteed monthly income is provided to the spouse of the deceased based on a specific formula. You must have worked for the government for at least 5 years to start collecting. It is separate from Social Security and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Federal employees pay into it. Taxpayers also contribute because the federal government helps fund the FERS through taxpayer dollars.
They are guaranteed one year’s salary after death, called the Death Gratuity Payment. They get it regardless of their financial status.
There was a bill, H.R. 412, introduced years ago that would prevent the stoppage of Death Gratuity payments. But like everything else that benefits them, it went nowhere. The link below shows you what was paid out to very wealthy politicians.

Remarkably, the median net worth of a member of Congress exceeds $1 million. Something neither party ever talks about. Wake up, America! It’s time to look at candidates who genuinely want to help, not just pretend to do so while enriching themselves.
The U.S. Debt
Currently, the US cannot continue to print money and kick the can down the road. We need both parties to work together and do what should have been done years ago: cut spending! This includes their perks!
I’m not sure if the US will survive another four years without getting its debt under control. Will Trump start focusing on the debt now that the “Big Beautiful Bill” has passed? I guess time will tell.
