Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic Mayor of NYC nomination! Congratulations to him! I’m not sure who supports Zohran Mamdani or how the Democratic Party feels about him as the nominee. He is a socialist who wants to give everything out for free. He wants to tax the rich and wants corporations to pay for all his social spending. I suppose he thinks corporations will be willing to pay more taxes and remain in NYC. Wish him luck!
Will Democrats support him
Currently, many Democrats are silent on whether they support Zohran Mamdani, except for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Jamall Bowman, Letitia James, and a few others.
It remains to be seen who will support Zohran Mamdani in his approach to governance and policy. Let’s discuss his supporters.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
She is a big advocate of the Green New Deal and a big supporter of Zohran Mamdani. In a speech in January, she said, “The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.” Meanwhile, she is flying around in a private aircraft, which costs approximately $15,000 per hour to charter. Why doesn’t she fly Commercial, when it releases less CO2 than a private aircraft? Private flights are the biggest polluters in air travel. In fact, 51% of private jets burn approximately 239 gallons of fuel per hour. They create more carbon emissions into the atmosphere in 121 minutes than the average person does in an entire year.
She is the person she is talking about in the “Fighting Oligarchy Tour.”

She is so busy traveling in luxury that she forgot about her constituents. The crime rate in her district has increased by 70% since she took office, while she wants to “Defund the Police.” She also spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on her own private security, which was paid for with tax dollars.
She even managed to get Amazon to relocate its second headquarters. This relocation would have created approximately 25,000 jobs in 10 years. Yes, jobs in which people get paid and can make a living. She insisted that the tax breaks Amazon would receive would be better spent on public services. I’m guessing that since Amazon does not pay taxes for its non-existent headquarters, there is no tax money to allocate to public services.
Bernie Sanders
Other than supporting Zohran Mamdani, he is busy doing his “Fighting Oligarchy Tour.” But he never tells anyone that he is part of the 1%. He is worth over $3 million, but never talks about it. When asked about climate change and flying around in a private jet instead of commercial. He says this is the only way to get around when 30,000 people are waiting for you. It’s called scheduling, so you can take a commercial flight.
He has already spent over $200,000 just on flights to travel from event to event during the first quarter of 2025. Who is paying for this?
He also believes in universal income, federal job guarantee, and single-payer healthcare. He plans to pay for it by taxing the wealthy, financial transactions, and payroll taxes. On top of taxing them by eliminating tax breaks and loopholes. He would also like to increase taxes on corporations. Why doesn’t he just confiscate all their money? His plan would probably result in significant job losses throughout the United States and likely lead to a lower GDP. But it worked for Venezuela. Look at how good they are doing.
When he was running for president in 2020, it was estimated that his plan would cost $60 trillion. I have no idea what the economy would look like, as I couldn’t get past $60 trillion bill.
One thing I must give Sander’s credit for is that he is consistent in his views.
Jamall Bowman
He is known for pulling the fire alarm to delay a vote on a government shutdown. Too bad the video caught him taking the signs down before pulling the alarm. He is also looking at becoming the NYC school chancellor if Mamdani is elected. Could it be that, after losing the primary for another term, he needs a job?
Letitia James
Campaigned for NY Attorney General by promising to prosecute Trump. She accused him of faulty business practices and exaggerating his net worth. And now she is under investigation for mortgage fraud. She allegedly claimed to have lived in Virginia. However, she was required to reside in New York due to her status as an elected official. Essentially, she pretended it was her primary residence to secure a lower interest rate. Basically, “No one is above the law!” or are they?

Will other Democrats come out to support Zohran Mamdani? Every day, more and more information about Mamdani is in the news.
He admits that his parents will support him if he runs out of money. It must be nice not to worry about money and paying for things.
In 2020, he was not sure why prisons exist. I guess the criminals should just run the streets, for that is what will happen when they close them all.
He advocates for the abolition of private property. Does that mean that no one will own a house?
He gave a speech at the Young Democratic Socialists of America in February 2021. One of his goals mentioned was “Seizing the means of production.” This is part of Marxist and Communist ideology, in which the government controls people’s lives.
Choice Rank Voting results and the November election
Examining the results from the NYC mayor’s primary is quite interesting. The first-round vote gave Mamdani 43.8% of the vote with 469,602 votes, and Cuomo came in 2nd with 36.1% of the vote and 387,188 votes. However, since no one received over 50% of the vote and NYC uses Rank Choice Voting, they start eliminating voters’ first-choice votes if it was not for Mamdani or Cuomo. Their second vote choice becomes their first vote, and this continues until a candidate gets over 50% of the vote.
The results of Rank Choice Voting gave Mamdani 100,000 more votes and Cuomo 53,000 more votes, which brought Mamdani’s total to 56% and Cuomo’s to 43.8%. Without Rank Choice Voting, Mamdani would not have won the primary. Candidates had to receive over 50% of the votes. If they had another primary with only Mamdani and Cuomo, who knows who would have really won?
Who will be the next Mayor of NYC
Time will tell who the next mayor of NYC will be and what other Democrats will support Zohran Mamdani. Maybe it would be for the best if Mamdani wins. Everyone wants free stuff, but they forget that someone must pay for it. Those people create jobs. One of the best aspects of the United States is that companies can relocate, and they often do. States are offering numerous incentives for companies to relocate, and what better motivation than having more money in their pocket.
I wish you the best, NYC, but don’t complain when the free stuff doesn’t come.
