My prayers go out to Charlie Kirk’s family! It doesn’t matter if you supported or didn’t support his beliefs. No one has the right to kill another human being because they didn’t like what they said or believed. What’s even worse is that people are celebrating his death. They are creating reel videos and using social media to express their joy. What has happened to this country?
Not everyone likes everyone, and that is the way it is. However, just because you don’t like someone does not give you the right to eliminate them. Why is this happening more and more lately? Tyler Robinson is 22 years old, and his life is over. He has nothing, and after his 15 minutes of fame, what’s next?
He will either die by execution or live in a cell for the rest of his life. If he goes to jail, he will probably have to be in isolation, for I don’t think he will survive long in the general population—no one to talk to and all alone. No one in the media or politicians even talks about how his life is over. He will never get married, have kids, or do anything else outside a prison cell. Eventually, the media will move on to discuss something else, and he will begin to fade away from the media. While Charlie Kirk’s legacy will continue to grow.
The people celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death and broadcasting it on social media will someday regret it. It will be there forever, even if they delete it. Even if you feel that way, why post it?
I read about an incident in the news involving someone posting a TikTok video. “Y’all keep on talking about his wife and kids. They need to go too, because they’re carrying on that mentality and that lineage, like get rid of the whole family… Why did you stop with him?” they said in the now-viral clip. I am not sure why they posted it, but they did. How would they feel if this were someone they loved? No, I am wishing something bad happens to them or their loved ones. I wish them well! They did try to apologize but still got their digs in by saying “Still, adds ‘we shouldn’t be mournful’ for Kirk because he ‘wants our demise.’
Then we have actress Amber Tamblyn in “Wish Granted,” about Charlie Kirk’s daughter seeing her father’s death. It was a reply to a Newsweek article published in 2024 about Charlie Kirk’s claim that children should watch executions. She has since deleted it due to backlash. Remember, just because you deleted it doesn’t mean it’s gone. She may not have meant it that way, but it didn’t look good.
More and more companies are doing background checks on what you’re posting on social media to learn more about your values, behaviors, and potential risks. Maybe a good reason not to hire you. Remember, when you post something and you delete it, it’s not really deleted. Like the TikTok user, the video is still all over the internet, even after she deleted it.
If you are upset and think posting about it makes you feel better, think again. Instead, write it, step away, and reread it later. You’ll be surprised how bad it really sounds. The internet is forever; think before posting.
Of course, people think they have the right to say and do whatever they want, thanks to the First Amendment. However, the First Amendment only applies to the Government, not private employers. A company can fire or let go of an employee for what they said or did that may affect the company’s business. Remember that before you post. You can lose your job, and the company can legally terminate your employment. The First Amendment does not protect your job.
Which brings me to the issue of “Entitlement.”
There was a time in America when people took pride in themselves and helped one another. They did not want handouts and wanted to work for the money to provide for their family. However, the government changed that by providing more free money or services without working for them. They did this to buy votes, and this is why we are $37 trillion in debt. At some point, we will run out of money. I don’t blame people for taking the money, who wouldn’t, when it’s free
It’s time for us all to work together. it doesn’t matter if you are on the right or the left; we need to unite before it is too late. Please respect one another and refrain from judging them because of their beliefs. You can disagree and still maintain a good relationship. Remember, not everyone will like you, and you can’t make them. Move on!
In the meantime, remember to write your post, walk away, and reread it later. Also, try to feel how you would feel if someone posted the same thing about you.
Lastly, the First Amendment does not protect your job. Don’t think you can sue a company because they fired you for what you said or did!
